Can we register throughout the year?

Registration is based on a variety of priorities, after the registration day the remaining spaces are given on a first come, first served basis at the teacher’s discretion, provided we have room in the child’s age category. Are homemade treats allowed?

ALL FOOD THAT ENTERS THE CLASSROOM MUST BE NUT FREE. Homemade treats are allowed in your child’s snack and must be nut free.

FOR PARTIES, WHERE FOOD IS SHARED only purchased nut-free items allowed in school. Some bakeries in town are certified nut-free (e.g., Bliss Cupcakes is one).

What is required of parents when they have a child enrolled at Rosedale Playschool?

Rosedale Playschool is a community-based Playschool and depends on parents to take an active role and assist the Teachers in running the school. See the Parent Involvement page for further detail.

What age does my child have to be to start school at Rosedale Playschool?
  • For the 4 year old program the student must turn 4 years old before December 31
  • For the 3 year old morning class the student must turn 3 by December 31
  • For the 3/4 year old afternoon class the student must turn 3 by September 1 and 4 years old by December 31
What are the teacher to child ratios at Rosedale Playschool?

Rosedale Playschool’s ratios are in accordance with licensing requirements and as such, our 3 year old class consists of a maximum of 18 children and our 4 year old class and our 3 and 4 year old split class consists of a maximum of 22 children. There are only 8, 3 year olds allowed in the afternoon class.All classes will always operate with a two teachers and parent helper, there is often a student teacher and an aide in the class as well.

What are the requirements regarding completion of potty training before starting at Rosedale Playschool?

All children must be fully toilet trained prior to starting school. We understand that occasional accidents do happen, however, we are not equipped for diaper/pull-up changing or daily accidents. Parents need to send spare changes of clothes in the event an accident does occur during school. If there are medical reasons for pull-ups, we can discuss how to manage the situation.
